CONVERSION AXLES
CONVERSION AXLES FOR CONVERTING A BIKE INTO A TRIKE.
These
axles
simply
fit
into
the
bike
dropouts.
The
telescopic
stainless
steel
seat
stays
are
fixed
to
a
seat
clamp
to
suit
your
bike
and
supplied
with
the
axle.
The
axle
is
supplied
with
a
pair
of
hubs
with
spoke
drillings
to
suit
the
wheel
rims
you
want
to
use.
(Standard
bike
wheels
are
not
compatible
with
trike
axles).
All
axles
have
Trykit
2
wheel
drive
cassettes
fitted.
These
cassettes
are
designed
and
made
by
Trykit
and
incorporate
six
drive
pawls
and
are
supported
on
two
sealed
ball
bearings.
They
are
extremely
reliable
and
fully
serviceable.
Cassette
sprockets
are
not
included
in
the

but
can
be
supplied
The
rear
gear
mech

There
are
two
types
of
axle.
The
standard
axle
as
in
the
left
picture,
and
the
disc
brake
axle
in
the
lower
picture.
The
axles
are
75cm
wide.
The
measurement
is
over
the
ends
of
the hubs, not the track width.
The
hubs
are
drilled
to
suit
the
rims
you
want
to
use.
The
axles
drive
both
wheels
via
special
cassette
body
which
will
accept
any
Shimano
cassette.
The
sprockets
are
not
included
but
can
be
supplied
and
fitted.
The
disc
brake
axles
are
similar
to
the
standard
axle
but
have
mechanical
disc
brakes
fitted.
The
hubs
and
disc
carriers
are
separate,
so
that
the
wheels
can
be
removed
without
disturbing
the
brakes.
A
central
allen
bolt
secures
each
wheel
to
the
drive
shaft
on
all
axles.
The
drive
shafts
run
on
four
sealed
ball
bearings.
The
cassette
body
also
has
two
sealed
ball
bearings.
These
axles
are
very
high
quality
and
easily
serviced.
The
brakes
are
operated
by
one
standard
brake
lever
and
connected
together
by
a
long
straddle
wire
to
each
calliper.
This
balances
the
braking
equally
to
both
wheels.
These
disc
brake
axles
are
used
regularly
by
para-cyclists
racing
in
UCI
events.
UCI
regulations
state
that
tricycles
must
have
brakes
on
both
wheels
and
linked
together.
A
safety
bar
is
also
required
for
UCI
massed
start
racing.
Trykit
supply
safety
bars
and
fittings
to
fit
these
axles.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE DISC BRAKE AXLES ARE SUPPLIED WITH CABLE DISC BRAKES
ONLY. (Two hydraulic callipers should not be used with a lever designed for one)
BIKE FRAMES MUST HAVE ROUND SEAT POSTS WITH A STANDARD SEAT POST CLAMP.
AERO SEAT POSTS AND SEAT TUBES WITH UNUSUAL DESIGNS OF CLAMPS ARE NOT
COMPATIBLE
FOR FRAMES WITH THROUGH AXLE FITTING FOR THE REAR WHEEL, I WILL NEED A
